Living with the weights of grief and a serious or chronic illness can make the world feel small, heavy, and exhausting. You wage a quiet battle against new limitations while processing the loss of the life you know and love. It can be a lonely terrain even with the support of loved ones who might offer comfort, but cannot truly grasp the relentless toll on your mind and body. Fatigue sets in, and carrying the emotional burden on your own can quickly become unsustainable.
Therapy is not to “fix” the unfixable situation, but more finding safety in processing it out loud. It offers a place to voice anger, explore the roots of anxiety, and mourn loss of identity altered by illness. We work together to construct emotional scaffolding, and identify coping tools to navigate a reality that often feels entirely out of your control, and empower you to seize control where and when you can. I am here to walk the path with my patients, and it is my privilege to do so.
